Dr. Scharrer will take a development & clinical history, reviewing current symptoms and concerns. Diagnostic testing may be reviewed or offered.
We will discuss your differential diagnoses based on your biological, psychological, social & spiritual factors, and develop a shared treatment plan, in line with your values & goals.

Group Therapy
When participants align their purpose & intent, group psychotherapy can be even more effective than individual therapy.
Dr. Scharrer offers the following groups:
-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia (CBTi)
-CBT for chronic pain, and chronic illness
-Therapeutic tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs).
CBT for Insomnia
Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I or CBTI) is a short, structured, and evidence-based approach to combating the frustrating symptoms of insomnia.

CBT for Chronic Pain
CBT for chronic pain focuses on making cognitive and behavioral changes to disrupt cycles of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors which can increase intensity of pain episodes.
Participants improve self-awareness and learn strategies to help modulate pain.
Pain may be a reality in our lives, but it is not the only reality of our lives.

Therapeutic Table Top RPGs
In therapeutic table top roleplaying games (TTRPGs), clients engage in collaborative story telling, improve communication strategies, and increase comfort & creativity with novel problem-solving.
Dr. Scharrer integrates elements of Acceptance and Commitment, Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, and Interpersonal therapy models into game encounters.

Therapeutic TTRPGs are best utilized in conjunction with individual, family or couples counseling.

​Don't ignore symptoms that could put clients or your business at risk. Dr. Scharrer is available for individual, on-site, confidential evaluations. Occupational health consultation data are not kept in electronic health records and are never accessed by insurers or third parties. Services include diagnostic evaluation, treatment recommendations, developing accommodation plans, and therapeutic consultation regarding transition and retirement strategies.

Guardianship & Capacity
Dr. Scharrer provides consultation to individuals, families and organizations who require an expert witness or independent evaluation for the following:

decisional capacity reviews evaluee's medical decision making, patient safety, and protective placement.

testamentary capacity, reviews evaluee's decision making in the matters of estate planning and includes psychosocial assessment for abuse, neglect, or coercion. ​

Asylum & Refugee Evaluations
In partnership with the Physician for Human Rights' Asylum Network, Dr. Scharrer takes on a limited amount of referrals for evaluation. These referrals are provided on a sliding-scale fee, often with no charge. Dr. Scharrer will provide client & attorneys with an affidavit of her evaluation report for testimony in court. Your attorney can start the referral process here.

Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment
Dr. Scharrer can provide independent evaluation and testimony for involuntary treatment (Wisconsin Chapter 51) orders. Rates negotiable, by county.
